REACH (Recognizing and Eliminating disparities in Addiction through Culturally informed Healthcare) is a 5-year initiative funded by SAMHSA–Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration–with a two-fold mission:
- Increase the overall number of racial and ethnic underrepresented minority (URM) addiction specialists in the Addiction Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine workforce, and
- Increase the number of addiction specialists adequately trained to work with racial and ethnic URM patients with substance use disorders (SUDs)
Each year, REACH recruits a cohort of Scholars nationwide for a 1-year training experience focused on improving the care of racial and ethnic URMs with SUD. Reach funds a year-long Fellowship in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry. For questions, please contact reach@aaap.org.
The application for Cohort 4 (July 2022-June 2023) will open March 1st, 2021!
