REACH (Recognizing and Eliminating disparities in Addiction through Culturally informed Healthcare) is a 5-year initiative funded by SAMHSA–Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration–with a two-fold mission:

  1. Increase the overall number of racial and ethnic underrepresented minority (URM) addiction specialists in the Addiction Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine workforce, and
  2. Increase the number of addiction specialists adequately trained to work with racial and ethnic URM patients with substance use disorders (SUDs)

Each year, REACH recruits a cohort of Scholars nationwide for a 1-year training experience focused on improving the care of racial and ethnic URMs with SUD.  Reach funds a year-long Fellowship in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry. For questions, please contact reach@aaap.org.

The application for Cohort 4 (July 2022-June 2023) will open March 1st, 2021!
